Outdoor audio system install for Newcastle's City Administration Centre using Sonance speakers
Pereira Projects designs a residential-inspired audio system for the outdoor spaces of Newcastle’s impressive City Administration Centre.
Coming from a building with relatively no AV, it was clear any update to AV would be a dramatic change for the City of Newcastle. The multi-storey City Administration Centre on Stewart St houses much more than office spaces, with a large interactive digital library, automation-driven council chambers, collaboration-friendly workspaces, a hireable podcast studio, and a large staff kitchen with adjoining outdoor eating area.
It’s the type of task you’d imagine many government departments need to take care of all the time: Take a VC call with an equivalent department overseas and conduct business via interpreters. It may not be exotic or glamorous, nonetheless, effective communication is critical to doing intergovernmental business, where every word, phrase and inflection can be crucial.
Built during the COVID-19 pandemic, this created a unique set of challenges with supply chain disruption across multiple industries. The size of the property, plus the number of individual buildings and outdoor areas that all needed to be connected to the smart home system via a fibre network, required significant coordination and planning between the different trades and suppliers.
The focus of this case study is the extensive use of Sonance throughout the property.

The Ritz Carlton
Perth’s newest luxury hotel installed by Programmed Electrical Technologies, WA
The Ritz Carlton is Perth’s newest luxury hotel. A $400 million dollar project, including two residential and hotel towers, the site was in construction for three years. With the promise of a 6-star rated experience, it was imperative that everything, from technology, audio visual equipment and décor, meet the expectations of future residents and visitors.
Smart Home Solutions used a house music amp to receive all of the home’s music sources and back-fed audio from the TVs. They then sent the ‘loop’ audio to a processor as well as amplified audio to concealed Sonance speakers.
All speakers were concealed within linear air conditioning grills both functional and dummy.
No speakers at all were visible. The net effect in all spaces was clear, crisp audio emanating from an unidentifiable source.
Endframe, the content and events production company responsible
for production at Clipped, worked closely with Amber Technology to
install Digital Projection’s range of E-Vision, M-Vision and HIGHlite
projectors across the exhibition and awards venues.
